1. Find piping that differ, and that add varying heights. I found mine at Home Depot in the plumbing department.

2. Spray paint the pipe gold. (What doesn’t look good spray painted gold?)

3. After arranging your pipes on the wood slab, adhere them with the super glue.

4. Finally, add your fall flowers! I chose brightly colored leaves, cats tails, and greenery for a fun fall vibe!

Yarn

Pom maker

Begin folding your sheet like an accordion (think back to when you used to make paper fans)!

Place a piece of cardboard on either side of the folded sheet. Doing this makes white spots, and adds to the design.

Next, take your rubber bands to secure the boards. Note* the more rubber bands you put, the more white lines appear!

After mixing your dye solution, begin pouring! There is no right way to do this!

TADA! So easy, and so cute! Next up is adding the poms to the ends for a fun detail!

Tie Dye Pom lawn sheets

You can totally make these by hand, but I suggest investing in a pom maker!

For the pom maker:

1. Wrap yarn around prongs, and close together

2. Cut across

3. Tie a piece of yarn through slits tightly

4. Pull apart prongs to reveal your perfect pom!

5. Adhere the pom to the four corners of your sheet using a simple stitch, or taking hot glue (my go to for everything!!)

There ya have it! These adorable tie dye lawn sheets are customizable, would be so fun at a birthday party, or picnic event! I’m thinking indigo ones would be super rad!

Fall + Fellowship

As a mom of a 15 month old, sometimes a lot of the time there are challenges, and questions that flood my mind. Am I modeling the right principles to her? What am I conveying about beauty? About God? About loving others? About the role of a woman? Am I screwing this up? Am I screwing her up? I’m screwing up. The truth is, we’ve all been here. Questioning and doubting our abilty to raise a little human being into a big human being, who will undoubtedly have big human being responsibilities, obstacles, decisions, AND hopefully will be equipped with biblical, practical, and wise methods on handling these big human things. This is why coming alongside moms with a likeminded worldview, who strive toward a common goal is of the upmost importance. I am so grateful for the community of mom’s that I call my friends. We find out, incase we forgot, that we all fall short. I won’t be the perfect parent, and Soph won’t be the perfect daughter, because we are imperfect people. This doesn’t mean to throw in the towel, to grow impatient, or to settle for a mediocre life cause heck we aren’t perfect, right? No, this means we serve when we want to be served, we choose a soft answer when we want to scream, we love when we want to resent, and we honor when we want to disrespect. I was reminded at a mom’s night out last night, that we need to cheer each other on, not compare; encourage, not tear down; rest, not clock out.

WINDOW DISPLAYS: LUX CLOTHING

It’s fall here in Southern California, even if the weather disagrees. Lux Clothing is a local boutique that asked me to make them some window displays to incorporate fall.  The two main displays are a modern take on autumns apple tree. For the macrame curtain, I hand dyed the rope in orange, yellow and scarlet red. After completing the design, I adorned it in leaves then made apples out of Styrofoam and yarn. When installing the display I hung the bottom of the curtain out into a 3dimensional basket of sorts, and filled it with more yarn apples giving the illusion that they were falling from the tree into a basket, and ripe for eating! My friend Mandilynn Photography graciously took some photos of them for you all to see- be sure to check her work out! Keep reading for more!

This guy fills the whole window! I wrapped more than 20 hoops in yarn and adorned them in leaves. I wanted to do an autumn play on summers ice cream cone so I took apples and filled them in cones. It turned out so rad, and I love the mixed elements that really make it unique.

This chandelier was a BEAST. I hated it when I was making it, but there was no turning back after hours working on it. I will say that after hanging all the tassels on it- it became my favorite piece!
